Real Hotel´s priority has been to preserve its original
architectural
design and this is why all the rooms vary in size and location.The Hotel has 3
patios, in the first one you find the
suites. On the second
patio there are 9 rooms, 3 downstairs and 5 upstairs. The third patio
has floors and 12 rooms, these are the smaller rooms but they are
demanded by the guests due to its peaceful and quiet environment.

Description:

This
beautiful house was built in the beginning
of the 19th
century and now is the Inca Real Hotel.
This
house is an example of Colonial Style; it clearly shows the
Spanish influence in the way our natives used to build houses.
The
way the bedrooms were build around the patios with flower gardens,
and the vegetable gardens located in the back of the house, is a style
with a Mediterranean influence but the materials are from our
soil
for example, adobe, paddle ,stones, wood, brick. And then in the early
19th century, metal handrails were replaced by the wooden ones.
Like
many houses in Cuenca, this one was decorated with mural
paintings, inspired in legends, in poems and in prints originated in
Europe.
Throughout
time, the weather has altered the beauty of this antique and
simple house which has fostered some well to-do burgess families.
But in
1991, this house was carefully re-store, following the Borough
regulations to preserve intact the original style of the houses in the
downtown area before Cuenca was declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Cuenca has always been characterized by men and women with a strong
identity and by the engrossing testimonies of previous epochs.
The
effort of rebuilding this house was priced with a Borough award
“Jose María Varas” to the best architectural renewal in benefit
of the
city. This award takes after a well-known man who defended the artistic
values of Ecuador and the architectural achievements of our city.
Since
then the traditional and re-stored house has been transformed
into what is now The Inca Real Hotel.
This Hotel maintains its doors open with hospitality, offering as usual
the old and ever young heart to all the visitors who want to find out
the humanity, the poetry, and the taste of the deepest charming of the incomparable city of
Cuenca. |
