Here in Ecuador credit card purchases done directly in person are subject to a 10% surcharge (credit card companies do not charge merchants a merchant fee – instead, they deduct 10% off credit card transactions). We can accept credit cards, but only online via PayPal (www.paypal.com) with a 4% surcharge.

We will get to Quito 7/23 and stay for 2 days. We are interested in a last minute budget deal to the Galapagos, either on a large boat or island hopping, as my son tends to get sea sick. There are 4 in my group–my husband, daughter (age 13) and son (age 10). We do not have air tickets yet, so are flexible on dates. Will be in Ecuador until 8/7.
