A comprehensive city
tour (conducted by a
professional bilingual (English/Spanish) guide that includes visits to
the
residential neighborhoods in the north of Quito, visiting the “Guapulo Mirador”, passing through the Avenida
12 de Octubre (12th
of October Avenue) up to the Casa de la
Cultura (Culture House) and the Legislative
Palace (Congress) where the stone mural related the history of
Ecuador. |

The tour continues
through the Avenida Gran Colombia up to the Basilica Cathedral and on to the “San Juan
Mirador” (San Juan lookout point) for a
spectacular
sight of the old, Colonial Quito district. |

Walking through the
historic narrow streets of the
old, Colonial sector, stops are made and the Plaza de
Independencia (Independence Plaza) where one can admire
the Cathedral, the Palacio Carondelet
(Government Palace), the Palacio
Arzibispal (Archbispal Palace). The
tour will continue to Iglesia Compania (Compania
Church) with its rich and intricate gold
altars and ornaments, the Iglesia
Sagrario (Sagrario Church), the Iglesia
San Francisco (San Francisco Church) which was built in the 18th
century [entrance not included]. Finally, the tour will take you to the “Panecillo Mirador” (Panecillo lookout
point) where the Virgin de Quito
(Virgin of Quito) statue overlooks the Colonial sector for a special
view of
the Colonial and modern sectors of Quito. |
